Release Concert Update and Synopsis of the New Project

Exciting times…

It’s been a minute since an update and for good reason. Life has been a roller coaster ride of epic proportions. It seems that every time I get ready to release this project, major catastrophes seem to happen like hard drives crashing, back up hard drives crashing, houses burning down, deaths in the family, car accidents, venues being shifty and trying to eat off of my merchandise, etc…

That’s it! I am putting this out… into your mind, into the world, into the atmosphere, and into the rest of the universe … I will be releasing this project on AUGUST 18^th, 2010. No more delays dammit!

I will be officially releasing the first single off of the album on August 1st. It is called "Semi-Reserved Closet Maniac" I will be giving this single away free to anyone who is a part of my email list. If you've ever had a "choke your boss" fantasy type of day, then this song is for you. Download it, play it and love it. Cover Art for the single is by the splendiferous Ingrid Powell.

Luminous Dark Alleys: The Insomniac Works is the name of the project.

It is a group of “works” that are reflective and introspective of my experiences with insomnia. It includes an audio album on CD and a complete BOOK (not a booklet, a complete literary work).

Lyrically, this album trumps anything I have ever done. If you are a fan of deep lyrics with intricate lyrical flows and a dark edge, you are going to love the CD. It will make you think. It will make you rewind and replay. Musically I have expanded by recruiting tracks form the production geniuses of Amorphous Works, Coole High and C-Doc “The War Hammer”. The music captures the moods of the way insomnia makes me feel perfectly. I outsourced the incredible Mike Spice of Connected Sounds to mix 10 of the 15 tracks and he mastered all of them… WOW… Sonic deliciousness~!

The book is a deeper explanation and reflection of my experiences that lead to me writing the songs. You will definitely want to read the book because it expands upon the CD in ways you won’t believe until you read it. It will, at very least, be something you will relate to on a personal level. At most, it will change the way you think of me, you, and the rest of the world. It also includes exclusive line artwork by me and Demostina http://Demostina.com that is reflective of the whole theme. My pieces are sketches that I created as I was writing the book. These sketches gave rise to my new mascot “Him”. (T-shirts coming soon). Demostina’s pieces are reflective of songs from the CD. The Cover art is also 2 paintings done by Demostina. The literary work is a culmination of my thoughts and experiences in life dealing with insomnia. If you’ve ever had a difficult time sleeping then this project is something that you will severely relate to. If you haven’t had a battle with sleep then you’ll be able to get a better understanding of where I am coming from. It is a very personal account so get ready to hear and read some meat and potatoes you never thought you’d hear from me. It is SUPER personal.

I have teamed up with Coole High who is also releasing his album “Futuristically Speaking” on the same day. We have brought in Hip Hop playwright and director Gustav Gauntlet to combine the themes of our albums into a theatrical production of a concert performance like you’ve never seen on the NYC Underground. We have worked in cameos from some of the NYC area underground’s finest talent…

The event will be called FUTURE INSOMNIAC

Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

There will be a VIP reception for advanced ticket holders and press at 6pm. We will be serving finger foods, wine and some extras so not only do you get a few bucks off of admission, you get to schmooze. There will be a Q&A and video screening of our unreleased videos.

Doors will open to the general public at 7pm and curtain will be at 8pm Sharp. The event will be over at 10pm. The after party will be at another location at 10:30pm. We are arranging transportation from venue to venue for the people in attendance. The after party is complementary for ticket holders and will feature performances by the artists who are involved in the concert.

All that for $10… You can’t beat that!

Contestants had to identify as many brands of Cigarettes in the Tah Phrum Duh Bush song “ Cigarette" as possible.

They used their online chops to help them out.

I wrote it so that I could encourage people to smoke emcees instead of cigarettes. It’s a healthy alternative ya know...

Tah & the Kids and Demostina's Art Opening.

Today was a long one. I was interviewed on film for an Aids/HIV/Safe Sex awareness outreach program today in Brownsville, Brooklyn. The Kids were fantastic and very sharp. I had to perform for an open mic afterward. In the spirit of promoting safe sex via condoms and abstinence, I performed " Slumber Free Noctural Emission Admission". It was a bit akward at first but the kids loved it. (Or so they told me). They are so used to people being derrogatory about sex that they didn't know how to react. It was still dope though and hopefully a few people will benefit from it.

After that I swung through to Demostin'a Art Opening in Washington Height's today.
Her exhibit is called Breathing Under Water.
It is at a restaurant in Washington height's called Plum Pomidor.
I highly recommend swinging through if you have the time.
It is absolutely breathtaking!

If you didn't know, Demostina did the artwork for my upcoming release "Luminous Dark Alleys: The Insomniac Works". She is also featured on one of the songs called "Nightmares in the Daytime". She is a true talent and she deserves a look see.

Somewhere in Manhattan between 16th Street and 30th Street and Between 7th Avenue and Park Avenue. There will be an envelope conveniently hidden in a somewhat obvious place. It will have enough cash in it to buy you lunch. If you find it, I will double it. Period.

At 9am clues will be up on twitter and facebook and I will also send out an email blast. There will be a phone number to call when you find it. Call it and I will bring the other half of the money to you. You must have the envelope and the contents with you. Spend the money on lunch if you like but the rest needs to be there. I let Rabbi Darkside pick the tracks I would perform and he chose "Semi-Reserved Closet Maniac" (which just happens to be featured on the tour compilation CD) and "Script Flip Flash" (a song produced by Coole High from out upcoming collaborative album High Phidelity/Phidelity High). The crowd participation was on point and as always I am amazed by how many people know the lyrics to songs I have that haven't even been officially released yet!

As if P90x for a year straight wan't enough. I had to go and chalange myself to something else to help me to sleep. P90x wasn't making me sleep anymore. So here I go with "Insanity". Today was day #1. Holy Shit! You wanna talk about hardcore? Nah man... The is beyond hardcore... and this was just the first day which is a test day to guage progress in the future.

This year we are in Union Square Park every Thursday through August. It was bananas there were kids all over the place and we rocked for 2 hours straight

I busted down the stage at Pantheon in Prague. Two girls started kissing while I was performing "Slumber Free Nocturnal Emission Admission". The crowd went nuts!
"By Myself and I'm feelin' myself and I'm wishin to myself that U were feelin' myself... " If you don't know the lyrics then U haven't been to one of my shows lately. Bring that ass on out! Big ups to Oereo for the cameo in the spot and Jaro Cossiga for holdin me down on the effects and the Beatbox. I rocked for 90 minutes and they were asking for more at the end of my set... People were brining me drinks while I was performing and passing me weed to rhyme about it was crazy! Peep out the slide show below.

I'm back on tour in Europe shaking off the Negative Willies

So I'm back in Europe and refuse to let my blog lag behind again. I had a series of really negative events transpire in my life since January 1. I am not going to mention them all. There are so many... I am doing my best to shake the negative vibe but I'm sure you all know how it gets sometimes. All of these crazy events came to a head. My car got smashed by a taxi cab the night before I left. My vocals for my album mysteriously disappeared off of my hard drive and then the back up drive became corrupted. Which means yes... there will be more of a delay for the release.. 9 months of recording "poof!" Sorry. Now I get to Europe to find out that some of my shows were canceled...

Just before I left NYC I had a series of really shitty premonitions; all of which included me dying in not so pleasant ways. A friend of mine also told me that she had a psychic reading done on me and that she was told that there would be a stabbing near me soon. An extremely large black fly was hovering over my bed when I woke up the day I was leaving. I wouldn't normally be concerned but it was 20 degrees outside and it is February...

Signs? I dunno. I am not really superstitious but... dayum... Shit is shiftin' my faith in not having faith in BS superstitions...
